How often do ChatGPT, Claude & Gemini mention you? A practical guide

Updated: 4 August 2026

To know how often AI mentions you, you need a fixed set of questions your customer would actually ask, run across more than one model, and repeated over time. One question on one model isn't a measurement — it's a snapshot, and the three models often give completely different answers.

Why the three models differ

ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini were trained on different data, refresh at different rates, and some of them run live search. It's entirely normal for one to mention you while the other two ignore you.

That's why measuring on a single model gives a distorted picture — in either direction.

The right questions

The most common mistake is asking about yourself: “what is [my company]”. That measures whether it knows you, not whether it recommends you.

The questions that count are commercial, phrased the way a customer would: “who's the best [category] in [area]”, “where should I buy [product]”, “who can I trust for [need]”.

Language and location change everything

For a Greek business, the same question in Greek and in English often returns different names. The English version tends to surface international players, the Greek one local ones.

The same goes for location: “in Thessaloniki” and “in Greece” are not the same question. Measure both dimensions if both apply to you.

How many times, and how often

Models aren't deterministic: the same question produces variations. You need enough questions for the percentage to mean something — one or two won't do.

And you need repetition at a steady rhythm, because the number on its own says nothing without a comparison to last month.

What to take from the results

  • Which questions you appear in and which you don't.
  • Which models know you and which don't.
  • Which competitors show up in your place, and how often.
  • Whether what's said about you is accurate.

Frequently asked questions

Can I do this manually?

Yes, for a first picture. Keep a fixed set of questions and note the results with dates. It gets tedious once you want many questions across several models every month.

How many questions are enough?

Enough to cover the different phrasings your customer would use, in each language that matters to you. Too few questions give an unstable percentage.

What if only one model mentions me?

That's useful information: it means signals exist but haven't reached everywhere. Usually it shows the work is on the right track and needs continuity.
